- LAN means "local area network" and refers to a
group of computers and associated devices that share a common
communications line or wireless link.
Typically, a LAN will share common resources such as
printers, modem, Internet connection or other resources, for
example, a central computer which has common software
applications such as Microsoft Office.
A LAN network applies to a network of two or more computers
sharing a single network allowing them to communicate with
each other. For example, two home computers, one in the
bedroom and one in the living room, connected together, are a
common type of Local Area Network.
