Repeater
|
| |
- In telecommunication networks, a repeater is a device that
receives a signal amplifies it and then retransmits it along
the next leg of the network. It is used to ensure signal
strength and allow the high quality necessary for broadband.
A series of repeaters make it possible to boost a signal over
a much greater distance than would otherwise be possible.
Repeaters are also used to interconnect segments in a local
area network (LAN) for example, to boost
the signal to and from a wireless modem to ensure high quality
signal.
